WHY THIS?

The Bible is all true, but all truth is not confined to the Bible.

In other words, there are truths which exist outside the Bible which may or may not have origins or parallels within the scriptures themselves.

"The Bible doesn't have a monopoly on success (or failure) as a delineated moral standard."

RESPONSE:

The Bible neither enjoys successes nor suffers failures, per se. I would say any outcome of delineated moral standards are the result of humankind's application, or lack thereof, of carrying out godly principles.

And as one reader intimates, certain principles which many would agree to be beneficial are, to some extent, found in writings or systems of belief other than just the biblical texts. That is actually a fundamental part of the moral argument for the existence of God, and can be evidence supportive of Scripture's claim that peoples of the world descended from a common root.
